On September 14, 2023, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Zamboanga del Sur, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Zamboanga Del Sur, successfully launched the Buhay Ingatan, Drogaβy Ayawan (BIDA) Program at Mega Gym, Provincial Government Center, Dao, Pagadian City.
The BIDA program intends to increase community awareness at the local level in order to secure strong buy-in and strong support from all the stakeholders for a comprehensive and increased advocacy campaign against illegal drugs.
The event was graced by Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr., Secretary of the Department of the Interior of Local Government, served as the honorary guest. In his speech, he emphasized the harmful effects of illicit drugs and urged all partner agencies and local government unit officials to work together and take the war on drugs seriously.
βKung lahat tayo matatakot walang mangyayari, for evil to triumph is for all good men to do nothingβ, SILG said. βWag kayong magalala, lalabanan natin ito, at hindi tayo matatakot sa sindikatong ito, we are dead serious on this,β he added.
One of the highlights of the activity was the signing of the Pledge of Commitment, which was led by SILG Abalos and joined by the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur, headed by Gov. Victor J. Yu, various Regional and Provincial National Government Agencies (NGAs) and the Local Chief Executives in the province.
In attendance during the event are DILG IX Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, DILG Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Director Moh. Taha S. Arakama, 1st District Representative Divina Grace Yu and 2nd District Representative Jeyzel Victoria Yu.
